Postponed until further notice
East Devon Health are inviting applications from students at the end of their GCSE year, to attend a week’s work experience program run by the GP’s in East Devon.
This program will include lectures on careers as GP’s, life as medical students and advice on how to get into medical school, followed by 4 days in a GP practice in East Devon, observing doctors and nurses working in general practice.
This program has limited capacity and we have a small number of spaces available for each school, probably only 2-3 places per school . We will do our best to place students in practices where they and their family members are not registered, to avoid confidentiality issues.
This course is unfortunately only open to residents of East Devon (Exmouth, Woodbury, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Seaton, Ottery St Mary, Honiton and Axminster) and selection will be by application. We intend this scheme to be suitable for students who have the motivation and academic potential to study medicine, so please pass this onto able students who fit this description.
We expect to be oversubscribed again this year, but would particularly like to see applications from students from less advantaged backgrounds, as we know there is a huge amount of untapped potential in our communities, that we are keen to develop.
To apply, please email alisonclatworthy@nhs.net for an application form.
